Communities across Canada are looking for new ways to finance the projects that matter most, from renewable energy and affordable housing to local infrastructure and community enterprises. At the same time, many Canadians want more opportunities to invest in initiatives that generate both financial and community returns.
The Canadian Coalition for Community Capital is leading a national advocacy campaign to help bridge this gap by advancing federal tax policy reforms that would make it easier for communities to raise investment capital locally.
Join Suzanne Faiza for an introduction to the coalition’s work and an exploration of why community capital is essential to building stronger, more resilient local economies, and growing Canada’s renewable energy co-operative sector.
During this webinar, Suzanne will discuss the proposed policy changes, explain how they could unlock new investment opportunities for community-led projects, and outline how organizations and individuals can support the campaign.
In this session, you will learn:
- What community capital is and why it matters
- The barriers limiting community investment in Canada
- The Canadian Coalition for Community Capital’s federal advocacy campaign
- How tax policy reform could help finance renewable energy co-operatives and other community-owned initiatives
- Ways you and your organization can help advocate for a stronger community capital ecosystem
