The 3rd Annual Community Energy Co-operative Forum and CECC AGM

On the days bridging July and August 2025 in Victoria, BC, we brought together a national community of energy co-operatives, policymakers, researchers, and advocates — all committed to building a more democratic, inclusive, and community-powered energy future. Held at the beautiful Royal Roads University, this forum marked a turning point for our sector. The conversations were rich, the momentum tangible, and the partnerships stronger than ever. 🛠 From financing models and governance strategies to innovation and trust-building, we tackled the hard questions — and surfaced new ideas, shared tools, and collective strategies. 🙌 Deep gratitude to our many contributors and collaborators — including: Dennis O’Farrell, Darcie Lanthier Karl Janelle, Jeff Roberts, Kuan Jian Foo, Rudolf Fryček, Julie MacArthur, Jodi Conuel, Dany Robidoux, Omri Haiven, Annette Dautel, Pam Bryan, Derya Tarhan, PhD, Chad Walker, Josie Ward, Ursula Eicker, Anna L. Berka, Leighton Gall, and so many others who shaped the conversations and supported the work behind the scenes. We’d also like to thank the partner organizations who are helping build the infrastructure for a just energy transition in Canada: NorQuest College, Royal Roads University, the Canadian Centre for the Study of Co-operatives, and Accelerating Community Energy Transformation. And of course, thank you to Environment and Climate Change Canada for supporting this work nationally. As Community Energy Cooperative Canada, we’re proud to host this forum and grow a platform that connects, strengthens, and advances community-led energy across the country. We are working on a report and other initiatives to help renewable energy co-operatives make a difference! Meanwhile, if you missed this forum, you can check out what the final program looked like. |
