CECC Fall 2024 Update
Renewable Energy Cooperatives and Supporters,
We’re excited to share an update from Community Energy Cooperatives Canada (CECC) as we continue our mission to support community energy development across the country.
Our Community Energy Forum and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June was a great success! We welcomed 39 participants in person at Dalhousie University in Halifax and 51 attendees virtually from across Canada. The two-day event featured insightful presentations and panels, with contributions from seasoned practitioners, senior researchers, students, and even European experts joining online to share their knowledge.
The AGM itself went smoothly, with the approval of our bylaws and the reinstatement of the founding board members. The Chair’s report at the AGM was well received and we have one very good piece of news to provide as an update. While we can’t share all the details just yet, this positive news will enable us to move forward with key activities to support our members. Stay tuned for more updates!
Looking ahead, we are focused on expanding our membership and networks, advancing inclusion, and raising the profile of community energy cooperatives nationwide. Over the next three years, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned to achieve these goals. We’d love to hear from you—how can CECC best support you? Please don’t hesitate to share your ideas, feedback, or any questions. You can reply directly to this email or contact us through our website.
To kick things off, SolarShare in Toronto is offering to lead a community solar operations and maintenance group, providing an opportunity to share knowledge and expertise. This group will be open to all solar cooperatives across Canada. If you’re interested in participating, please let us know by replying to this email. SolarShare will also reach out directly to solar co-ops.
If you’re curious about the growing impact of solar cooperatives in Canada, this recent CBC article offers a great overview of the movement and highlights some exciting developments.
